WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN THE ALLIANCE
The Alliance can play an important part in the development of political decisions that affect people with learning disabilities in Scotland. Its strength will lie in having a membership which actively contributes to the formation of policy and feeds in the real life experience of people and their carers.
The Alliance works by harnessing an understanding of what
is meant to be happening for people with learning disabilities
and
with what is actually being delivered on the ground.
The Alliance provides practical support to the Cross
Party Group which is an important part of the political
process, allowing
a free participation in discussion and change.
The Alliance will also seek to influence other parts
of the local, regional and national political structure
within Scotland, coordinating
the work of its members and sharing the successes
and difficulties they experience.
Our key tools in this will be:
* A regular newsletter
* Bi monthly meetings
* A part time coordinator
* An email network
* Specific research projects
* The active participation of its members
