How do we vote for the Scottish Parliament?

The voting system for Holyrood is a bit different from Westminster voting and Council voting.

Here’s what happens.

Voting is when you get the chance to give your opinion in an election or referendum.

When you vote you are choosing the political side or politicians you want to see making laws and deciding things.

All votes are equal and free.

You have a human right to vote in free and fair elections.

You must be registered to vote before your can vote.

Once you are registered you will get a polling card at election time to say you can vote.

You have to be a British or Commonwealth citizen to vote.

EU citizens can vote in Scotland but that might change with Brexit.
